1win

A sceptical reader's file on 1win for India: what the licence registry, the Online Gaming Act and independent reviews actually record.

MONEY AND THE LAW

1win payments under the Online Gaming Act

The Press Information Bureau says the Act bars banks and payment systems from processing transactions linked to online money games. A review still lists UPI, Google Pay, Paytm and PhonePe for 1win. This page keeps those two statements side by side.

PUTTING MONEY IN

Deposits: what is claimed and what is not shown

Goal.com India lists payment methods for Indian accounts. We could not test any of them, and a listing is not proof that a transaction would be accepted today.

  • UPI

Named by Goal.com as a deposit and withdrawal method. Whether banks pass UPI payments to such a site after the Act began is unconfirmed.

  • Google Pay and PhonePe

Both appear in the same list. They are payment apps, so the Act's rule on payment systems is relevant to them.

  • Paytm

Also listed. As with the others, a reviewer's list is a snapshot rather than a promise.

  • Amounts

Minimum deposits differ across sources, so we quote none.

TAKING MONEY OUT

Withdrawals are where most disputes arise

Getting money back is harder to confirm than putting it in. Sources do not agree on timings, which is why we give no figures.

  • Same methods listed

The review that lists the payment names says they apply to withdrawals as well as deposits.

  • Identity first

An identity document is typically requested before a first withdrawal is paid, according to ToffeeWeb.

  • Timings unknown

Sources report very different processing times. Do not plan around any single figure.

  • Legal risk

If a payment system declines related transactions, a withdrawal could be delayed or fail. Never deposit what you cannot afford to lose.

KYC and why it matters to you
IDENTITY CHECKS

KYC and why it matters to you

Goal.com India says 1win requires identity verification. KYC protects against fraud, but it also means you hand over personal documents to a company whose licence status is unresolved.

  • Do it early, advice says

Reviewers advise completing verification early to avoid payout delays.

  • Accepted documents

Sources name different documents, so we do not list any. Ask the operator what it accepts.

  • Guard your copies

Send documents only through the operator's confirmed site. Never share them by chat or with an agent.

  • Think about privacy

Identity papers are hard to recall once shared. Consider the risk before sending them to any site.

WHAT THE ACT SAYS ABOUT PAYMENTS

The 1 May 2026 rule on payment systems

A notification dated 22 April 2026 set 1 May 2026 as the day the Act came into force.

  • Related transactions barred

The press note says banks and payment systems are barred from processing transactions related to online money games.

  • Blocking

The same note says unlawful platforms can be blocked.

  • A conflict to note

Goal.com's India page still lists UPI, Google Pay, Paytm and PhonePe, while the press note says banks and payment systems are barred from processing related transactions. The two do not fit together.

  • Our reading

We do not resolve the conflict. If you cannot confirm a route is working and lawful, do not rely on it.

KEEP RECORDS

What to save if you transact

Records help if money goes missing or a bank asks questions.

  • Receipts

Screenshot every confirmation page and keep bank messages with the date and reference.

  • Chat logs

Save chats with support. They are your evidence if an agreement is later disputed.

  • Account name match

Check the name on the payee matches the operator named in the licence record.

  • Bank statements

Review them monthly. Unexpected charges should be raised with your bank quickly.

Protecting your money from copies and scams
PAYMENT SAFETY

Protecting your money from copies and scams

Payment pages are a common target for look-alike sites, so slow down whenever money is about to move.

  • Verify the payee

Before approving a UPI request, read the receiver name carefully.

  • No payments to individuals

Be suspicious of anyone asking you to pay a personal account for a gaming deposit.

  • Avoid promises

Nobody can legitimately guarantee winnings or returns.

  • Use a small limit

Keep a separate small balance so a mistake cannot reach your savings.

PAYMENT QUESTIONS

Questions on money, KYC and the Act

Short answers that stay within what the sources support.

Does 1win accept UPI?

Goal.com India lists UPI as a method. Whether it works after 1 May 2026 is unverified.

Do I need to complete KYC?

A review says 1win requires it, and another says an identity document is typically requested before a first withdrawal.

Is it legal to deposit?

The Act bars payment systems from processing related transactions and bans online money games. We do not call any deposit lawful.

How long do withdrawals take?

Sources conflict on timings, so we give no figure here.

What if my payment fails?

Keep the evidence and speak to your bank. A failed payment may be a sign of the new rule rather than a fault.
